TEHRAN (IRNA) – A top American expert said the U.S. was after establishing links with Iran and it was only waiting for the time when the issues pertaining to Iran’s recent presidential polls were over.

Senior expert with the U.S. Council of Foreign Relations Thomas Lippman told IRNA in an exclusive interview that though it was still too soon to answer the question on the future of U.S.-Iran relations after the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the fact still remained that the U.S. administration was after interacting with Iran and a peaceful status in ties between the two countries.
He said the US surely did not intend to change its plans with any changes in the presidency in Iran.
The American expert further said that the protests against the results of the recent presidential elections on Tehran streets and the fact that Iran’s Guardians Council had already agreed to review the election results within the next ten days were the reasons for the U.S. to keep the issue on hold until the final results of the elections come out.
